Adam Levine finally broke the silence about his decision to perform at the Super Bowl this year, and he made it clear that it was not an easy decision to make. Here’s what the Maroon 5 frontman had to say!

During an exclusive interview with ET, the singer got candid about the band headlining the halftime show, despite the way the NFL handled Colin Kaepernick’s choice to kneel during the national anthem as a protest against police violence and racial inequality in America.

‘No one thought about it more than me. No one put more thought and love into this. … I spoke to a lot of people, but most importantly though, I silenced all of the noise and just listened to myself, and made my decision based on how I felt,’ Levine told the news outlet.

Adam went on to assure everyone that he took a very hard look inside of him since it would’ve been ‘deeply irresponsible’ not to.

The star assured people that their voices would be hard ‘ – that’s all I want to say because I don’t want to spoil anything. And once again, I like to think people know where I stand as a human being after two decades of doing this. I’m not a public speaker. I do speak, but it is through the music. My life’s work and what I put out into the universe has been positive and hopefully inspiring …’

The man also explained that as an artist, he would like to use his voice for singing first of all, and not become a ‘politician.’

In other words, he wants to let their music speak for Maroon 5 and nothing else.

‘To make people understand, we got you. We got you,’ Adam also noted.
