We got a splash for good news today about the future of a certain X-Men character. Gambit, who was portrayed by Taylor kitsch in the Origins film, has been officially re-cast as Channing Tatum for the next X-Men movie. Though the movie is quite a ways away (potentially the new X-Men film is slated for 2016), the news that Channing Tatum will be playing fan favorite Gambit has people really excited. Tatum has the perfect balance of charm and confidence to pull of the character. He is also a Louisiana boy, and that is sort of the whole point of the Gambit character. You know what I hope they make sure they do when it comes to Channing Tatum as Gambit in the new X-Men movie? Mention his real name. You do know what Gambit’s real name is, right?
Why, it’s Remy.
Yup, it’s true. Remy’s are rarely represented on-screen, so it will be nice to see what Channing Tatum can do with that unmistakable energy only people named Remy seem to have. Yes, I am slightly biased as I rarely see my name in fiction. Let us also hope this time they represent the card flinging Gambit right? Also, some fine print for you guys. In the best Gambit X-Men storyline, he turns bad. So I will be very curious if they go that way with Tatum’s version.
Guess we gotta wait two years for X-Men Apocalypse to find out.
