Hippo Campus is currently on their Bambi Tour, named after their sophomore album Bambi.
The Minnesotan band is currently in the middle of a 42-date tour, which includes shows in the US, UK, France, Belgium and other European cities (check out our complete list of dates and venues down below). Need a refresher on the band? Check out our Artist 101!
Opening the show at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., The Districts got the crowd started – the rock band from Pennsylvania got the audience pumped with songs like “Long Distance,” “Nighttime Girls” and “4th and Roebling.” Check them out below:
During their set, people were dancing along, singing what songs they knew – there were also some people in the crowd who were definitely huge fans of The Districts.
But the crowd, however, completely lost their minds when the lights went down, signaling the start of Hippo Campus’ set.
They took the stage to a sold-out show, and were met with nothing but adoring, willing-to-sing fans. They kicked off the show with “Bambi,” the lead single off their sophomore album. Check out their official video for that song below:
The band’s set, which was a little over an hour, was a good mix between their first and second albums. Bambi, which was released nearly a month ago, was such a hit amongst the crowd – the majority of the people in the crowd were very familiar with the new album and were dancing and singing along to the songs, while a handful of people seemed to be shouting the lyrics back to the band.
Accompanied by DeCarlo Jackson’s incredible skills, well-coordinated strobe lights and an energetic audience, the music sounded amplified, clean and full. Hippo Campus’ music is made up of complex instrumental and vocal layers, and hearing them live in a venue like the 9:30 Club brought their music to another level. The show was auditory heaven.
