Jerry Blavat in the early hours of Friday at Jefferson-Methodist Hospital following a diagnosis of myasthenia gravis and other health issues. He was 82 years old.
Before his passing, he regularly appeared on his Saturday night show The Geator’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Rhythm and Blues Express, which airs on WXPN-FM.
Due to health issues, the radio legend was forced to cancel several appearances, including one in Memories in Margate and an event at Kimmel Center.
Tributes poured out to Jerry on social media, with one person writing: “I once did an appearance with Jerry Blavat & was struck by how he made each person feel he or she was his best friend. A smart, talented, warm and funny person.”
“Sorry to hear of his passing. A legend,” someone else wrote on Twitter.
Another fan said Jerry’s “energy was infectious” and remembered the radio legend in a touching tribute.
Jerry Blavat’s net worth
According to Celebrity Net Worth, the American disc jockey had a net worth of $1.5 million.
He had a celebrated career in the entertainment field and worked as radio and club DJ, television presenter, recording artist and actor.
Starting out from the tough streets of south Philly, he made his debut on the original Bandstand in 1953 when he was only 13 years old.
At the age of 16, he managed a tour for Danny and the Juniors and later worked as valet for stand-up comedian Don Rickles.
Jerry landed his first role in radio in 1960 and went on to gain further popularity after hosting the weekly dance television show The Discophonic Scene.
He purchased the club Memories in Margate in 1972 and regularly appeared there throughout his career.

Jerry Blavat: Wife and family
It wasn’t clear whether Jerry was married but he lived with his long-time partner Keely Stahl. They were together for 30 years.
Apart from his life companion, the radio legend leaves behind four daughters, grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Keely is a writer and editor who has spent long years in broadcast, media and publicity. She also worked as personal assistant to Jerry. According to a Facebook profile linked to her name, Keely has previously worked for Life Magazine and Time Magazine.
She is a native of New York but lived in south Florida and studied yoga at Yogi Mark Roberts in Fort Lauderdale.
